Vocational Rehabilitation is a program run by Florida's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation — part of the state Department of Education. It helps people with disabilities prepare for, find, and keep meaningful employment, and career training is one of the services it can fund.
Because VR is a grant, not a loan, there is nothing to pay back. We provide training; we don't assess or document disability.
Do I need a formal diagnosis before I contact ACT?
A diagnosis is typically part of VR's eligibility determination, but you don't need anything documented to start a conversation with us. The free 15-minute call is just to explain how VR works, whether it looks like a fit, and what the first step is — no application, no obligation, and nothing to disclose to ACT.
How long does VR approval take?
It varies by VR office and your individual situation — training is authorized as part of your Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE). We help move it along by giving your counselor the training details they need. If you'd rather not wait, many students begin on a self-pay plan and transition to funded status once training is authorized.
Which ACT programs can VR funding cover?
VR funds training that leads to real employment, so approved programs are those tied to in-demand roles — including IT, cybersecurity, project management, and business/office administration, with certifications such as CompTIA and Microsoft. ACT is an approved VR training vendor, and our team helps confirm which program your funding can cover.
What if I'm not eligible for VR?
