Eligibility Requirements for Unemployed and Dislocated Workers

Laid Off

You’ve been laid off or received notice of an upcoming layoff, and are either currently receiving or have already exhausted your unemployment compensation benefits. This may include individuals whose roles have been downsized due to company restructuring, budget cuts, or plant closures. If you’re navigating the uncertainty of re-entering the workforce or transitioning into a new career path, this program is designed to provide you with the support and resources needed to regain stability and pursue new opportunities.

Ineligible for Unemployment Benefits

You’ve recently been laid off or have been notified of an upcoming layoff, but to make matters more difficult, you’ve discovered that you’re ineligible for Unemployment Compensation. This situation can be both frustrating and overwhelming, especially when unemployment benefits are meant to provide financial relief during times of job loss.

Facing an upcoming layoff

You have been notified of the termination of your employment due to the permanent closure of the plant or facility, or because of a significant reduction in the workforce. This decision has impacted your current position, leading to the end of your role within the organization.

The plant or facility closure, or substantial layoffs, are unfortunately part of broader changes within the company. As a result, this has necessitated a restructuring of operations, which has directly affected your employment status.

This notice serves to confirm that your termination is a consequence of these organizational changes, and we understand the challenges this situation may bring. Please feel free to reach out if you require further clarification or assistance during this transitional period.

Individuals impacted by an impending plant closure

You have been notified of the termination of your employment due to the permanent closure of the plant or facility, or because of a significant reduction in the workforce. This decision has impacted your current position, leading to the end of your role within the organization.

The plant or facility closure, or substantial layoffs, are unfortunately part of broader changes within the company. As a result, this has necessitated a restructuring of operations, which has directly affected your employment status.

Formerly self-employed individuals

You were once self-employed, running your own business or working as an independent contractor. However, due to shifts in the local economy, your self-employment has come to an end, leaving you currently unemployed. Whether it’s the result of a downturn in the market, changes in consumer demand, or other economic challenges within your community, this shift can be difficult to navigate.

The transition from self-employment to unemployment brings a unique set of challenges. You may find it hard to adapt to the loss of autonomy and the uncertainties that come with seeking new employment opportunities. The financial strain, coupled with the need to reassess your career path, can feel overwhelming, but it’s important to know that you’re not alone in this journey.

Displaced homemakers

You have relied on the income of a family member for financial stability in the past, but that support is no longer available. Currently, you find yourself unemployed or underemployed, struggling to secure a job or advance your career. The challenges you face in finding suitable employment or achieving upward mobility in your professional life are making it increasingly difficult to regain financial independence.

In this transitional period, you may be seeking opportunities to enhance your skills or explore new career paths, but obstacles such as limited resources, lack of experience, or the competitive job market may be holding you back. This situation can feel overwhelming, especially when the pressure to improve your financial situation is mounting.

However, it’s important to recognize that you’re not alone in this struggle. Many people face similar challenges when trying to navigate a shift in their employment status. By taking proactive steps—whether through education, certification programs, or career coaching—you can overcome these barriers and put yourself on the path to better job prospects and financial security.

Native and Indigenous

We are responsible for the allocation and distribution of this funding to economically disadvantaged, unemployed or underemployed Native American, Native Alaskan and Native Hawaiian students residing in the states of Florida and Georgia for job training and educational purposes.
